Installing Freelancer in Windows 11 (2025 Edition)

Welcome to the 2025 edition of installing Freelancer in Windows 11. We will go through the vanilla install and then the HD Mod install separately. This will also highlight the specific changes of where to get the files necessary to get up and running.

There have been a couple changes of note that we need to cover. Specifically where to get the game and where to get the patches. Old Games Download is great but the hosting options keep changing. Luckily here in Feb 2025 the Mega download option works well, slow, but well. For the patches, The Starport moved everything to the Community Page and has an all in one patch.
